Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha-2 programme to provide better health services launched
Vijayawada: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s brainchild, the Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha-2 to provide better health services to the poor, started across Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
Officials said the Aarogya Suraksha programme, whose first part was implemented earlier, is a role model to the country. A total of 13818 JAS II Health camps would be conducted in a span of six months.
The second phase of Jagananna Aarogya Suraksha medical camps have started across the state from Tuesday. Health minister Vidala Rajini officially launched the camp organised in Chinapalakalur village of Guntur Rural mandal.
Rajini said 13818 medical camps would be organised simultaneously as part of the second phase Jagananna Arogya Suraksha programme.
“Medical camps will be held every Tuesday and Friday in villages across the state, mandal-wise, twice a week. Town-wise medical camps will be organised every week in two ward secretariats. These camps would be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays every week within the ward secretariats.”
The minister said 13818 medical camps will be held. Such camps will be organised in 10032 village secretariats and 3786 ward secretariats.
The main objective of the JAS II, she said, is to bring people with health problems to the medical camps, get them tested under the supervision of government doctors and distribute free medicines to them.
“This programme is also aimed to send those who need better treatment to big hospitals free of cost. The patient will be monitored by Arogya Mitra and ANMs until /she is fully recovered.”
“Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is working with the great goal of providing better medical care to the people free of cost. He is able to introduce such visionary programmes,” she claimed.
She said new Arogyasri cards have been sanctioned and are being distributed door-to-door as part of JAS-2.
The minister said Jagan Mohan Reddy increased the upper limit for medical expenses under Aarogyasri to Rs 25 lakh per person.
Special chief secretary to health, Krishna Babu, inaugurated the JAS camp at the Punadipadu Sachivalayam of Kankipadu mandal in Krishna district. He along with collector Raja Babu visited the Help Desk and inspected the spot registrations, OP and medicines distribution wings.
Krishna Babu said, “There is no shortage of specialist doctors for the JAS camps. In addition to specialist doctors, medical equipment and medicines are available. Seven types of tests would be conducted, including ECG tests.”
At another event, state health commissioner J Nivas launched JAS-2 at Pathanandayapalem of Karlapalem mandal, Khajipalem of PV Palem and other places in the Bapatla district.
