Kerala BJP to educate' public on Centre's schemes
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state BJP is set to reach out to the masses in preparation for the Lok Sabha elections next year. The party plans to educate the people about the 33 welfare schemes launched by the Modi government and win their support, a strategy successfully implemented in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat Assembly elections. State president Kummanam Rajasekharan started the party’s week-long 'sambark’ on Monday and visited former bureaucrat D. Babu Paul at his home.
The central leadership had kicked off its Maha Sambark Abhiyan in 2015 to enrol members to the BJP. National president Amit Shah has asked the state leaders to strengthen the booth committees. At least five booths among 20 booth committees will be made the ‘power centres’ with an in-charge. Former state president P. K. Krishnadas expressed hope that the latest initiative would help the party make inroads in the state.
“In Gujarat, the central leadership had appointed a ‘page in-charge’ where a party office-bearer was given the responsibility of taking care of 15 -20 houses in a booth,” said Mr Krishnadas.
Within eight months, significant strides could be made in Gujarat with the awareness about the central schemes reaching every household.
The party will hold at least six programmes in 19, 000 booth committees in the next week. The core committee and panchayat-level leaders plan to visit all the households in Kerala.
