Hyderabad: The TRS members on Wednesday disrupted Parliament proceedings for the third day in a row, trooping into the podium in the Lok Sabha as also the Rajya Sabha demanding paddy procurement from Telangana in rabi season and legislation on MSP (minimum support price) for all agriculture crops.
Holding placards "Don’t punish farmers," "We demand uniform procurement policy," and “Bring bill for MSP," the TRS MPs sat on dharna in the well of the two Houses during Question Hour. With this, the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned twice.
This was the third consecutive day that Parliament was disrupted after the winter session commenced on Monday. There were continuous protests from TRS MPs over farmers’ issues and also by the MPs of other parties on other issues linked to farmers.
Speaker Om Birla told the protesters to go back to their seats, saying it was not proper to disrupt Question Hour every day. He said several important questions raised by members needed to be given the answers. His repeated requests went in vain as TRS MPs continued with their protest in the podium.
The speaker could take up only four questions in about 30 minutes amid protests by these members. He adjourned the House till noon even as TRS MPs continued with their protests. Though the House resumed functioning in the afternoon, the TRS MPs trooped into the Speaker’s podium again and disrupted the proceedings, forcing him to adjourn the House again till 2 pm.
The Rajya Sabha too was adjourned twice on Wednesday with TRS members along with other MPs storming into the well of the House raising slogans and showing placards demanding that the Centre come up with a national policy on food grains procurement....
