Rajnath Singh takes on KCR over 12 per cent quota for Muslims
Hyderabad: Union home minister Rajnath Singh during an election meeting at Halia in Nalgonda district asked Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao whose quota he would reduce to give 12 per cent reservations to Muslims.
Maintaining that the BJP was never against minority reservations, he said in order to give 12 per cent reservation for Muslims the state government would have to cut down the quota of other groups.
The minister said “Nagarjunasagar gained popularity as one of the prominent tourist spots in the country but does not have a degree college and a good hospital. Despite living close to the town, people in several neighbouring villages do not get drinking water.”
He said it was saddening that 4,500 farmers had ended their lives under the TRS. The state government had not announced minimum support price for the 14 crops identified by the Centre, he said.
Attacking the Mahakutami, he said the late N.T. Rama Rao had launched the Telugu Desam to fight against the atrocities of the Congress but AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had joined hands with the party.
He said the Narendra Modi government which is giving free treatment up to '5 lakh for the poor will ensure housing to all by 2022.
