Hyderabad: The Congress on Friday appointed its former MP and ex-cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin as working president of the TS party unit. It also announced two more vice-presidents, eight general secretaries and four secretaries.
“I don’t have the strength to play cricket but have the strength to work for the Congress,” Azharuddin told mediapersons after the appointment. The TS Congress now has four working presidents, A. Revanth Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Kusuma Kumar and now Azharuddin.
Azharuddin said, “I have got a big post in the party after 18 years. I’m ready to contest in the parliamentary elections if the party orders me. I played a responsible role as a captain in cricket and this is the next biggest responsibility after a gap.”
