Gorantla angry over police restrictions
KAKINADA: Senior Telugu Desam leader and Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary expressed anger over police not allowing anyone to reach Rajahmundry Central Prison when former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had been released on interim bail on Tuesday.
He pointed out that police had closed the roads to Central Prison by erecting barricades. Not even former ministers were allowed around the central prison surroundings.
The senior TD leader pointed out that when YSRC MLC Anantha Udaya Bhaskar (Ananta Babu), accused in the killing of Dalit youth Veedhi Subrahmanyam, had been released on bail, YSRC cadres had been allowed up to the Central Prison premises. They were also allowed to take the MLC in a huge procession.
But now, when a former chief minister, who had held the CM’s post for14 years, had been released, police had imposed several restrictions.
Buchaiah Chowdary maintained that such restrictions show YSRC is fearing defeat in the forthcoming assembly elections.
