Pratap Reddy said any complaint related to these welfare schemes should be reported to WhatsApp number 949055117 or toll free number 155235

VIJAYAWADA: AP State Food Commission chairman Vijay Pratap Reddy said on Friday that the state is actively working to provide food security to all eligible under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2013.

Reddy said if there are any deficiencies related to the food schemes, action will be taken to correct them. He released a poster to inform the public and the authorities about the welfare schemes under the National Food Security Act 2013.

He said that since taking charge as the chairman of AP State Food Commission, 273 field visits have been made in 15 of the 26 districts, and they will complete the remaining 11 districts by December. A field visit was done to know the extent of the benefits provided by the state government via various food schemes to the poor under the Food Security Act-2013 through the PDS.

He said the schemes like Women and Child Development Corporation, Mid-Day Meal Scheme, Welfare Department Hostel Accommodation, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Scheme (PMMVY) Schemes come under NFSA.

Pratap Reddy said any complaint related to these welfare schemes should be reported to WhatsApp number 949055117 or toll free number 155235. Immediate action will be taken.

He said fortified rice is being supplied in seven districts. Some people are propagating false stories that plastic was mixed with rice. “Some 500 grams of kernels are added in a 50kg bag for fortified food so that vitamin B12, iron and folic acids are available in fortified rice.”

The state government will take steps to provide fortified rice in every district from May. The fortified rice scheme will be implemented in Telangana state by taking Andhra Pradesh as a role model, he said.
