New wins boost YSRC image in Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: Stretching the ruling YSRC’s winning streak to ZPTC and MPTC elections that saw the people’s overwhelming support to the governance of Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, September has also seen MSMEs getting Rs 1,124 crore by way of incentives, the launch of the American Corner in Andhra University besides the Vanijya Ustav to promote trade in Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister along with his family members visited Idupulapaya to pay tribute to his father and the late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy on his 12th death anniversary, which was observed across the state with several events.
It was another round of success for the YSRC in parishad polls, where the party won 98 per cent of the ZPTCs, grabbed 628 seats out of 638 and secured 8,249 MPTCs with 86 per cent out of the 9,583 MPTCs. The CM thanked the people for their overwhelming support and assured them he would work hard for their welfare with increased responsibility.
Ensuring social justice was the dominant concern of the Chief Minister, reflected in the appointment of 481 directors to 47 corporations, in which 52 per cent were women while 58 per cent posts went to SC, ST, BC and minorities.
Similarly, for the posts of ZPTC chairpersons and mandal parishad presidents, the candidates were selected by strict adherence to social justice. Almost 69 per cent of the ZP chairperson posts were given to weaker sections and 54 per cent of the total ZP chairs have gone to women. In the vice-chairperson category, 73 per cent posts were allocated to BC, SC, ST, and minorities and overall 62 per cent posts went to women.
During the month, an American Corner was launched at Andhra University. The facility, the third in the country after Hyderabad and Ahmedabad, aims to provide various opportunities to students who wish to pursue their studies abroad.
On the investments front, Rising Star Mobiles of Foxconn Group has expressed interest in expanding their operations in Andhra Pradesh. Foxconn MD Josh Palgur called on the CM and held discussions.
Under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a two-day event Vanjya Utsav-2021 was held, laying a special focus on boosting trade and exports in Andhra Pradesh. Taking part in the event, Jagan Mohan Reddy has asserted that the government will be extending full support to increase trade and aims to double exports from the state by 2030.
Convening the 216th SLBC meeting, the CM appealed to bankers to extend support to tenant farmers and women groups by facilitating loans.
Heavy rains triggered by the Gulab cyclone battered the north coastal districts, causing loss to human lives and crops. The CM announced ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased family and Rs 1,000 to each family while leaving the relief camp. Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna districts were affected by the cyclone.
