MPs seek new trains, development of stations, ROBs/RUBs

Devarayalu sought doubling of Nallapadu-Pagidipalli line, introduction of new Express trains from Guntur Junction to New Delhi, Varanasi

VIJAYAWADA: Members of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh have sought development of railway stations, more facilities and amenities, upgradation of stations, betterment of train services, starting of new trains and completion of pending projects.

SCR general manager Gajanan Mallya held a meeting with MPs at Vijayawada on Thursday.

MPs Chinta Anuradha, (Amalapuram), B Venkata Satyavathi (Anakapalle), Talari Rangaiah (Anantapur), N Reddeppa (Chittoor), Gorantla Madhav (Hindupur), VG Viswanath (Kakinada), Singari Sanjeev (Kurnool), Brahmananda Reddy (Nandyal), Lavu Srikrishna (Narasaraopet), Prabhakara Reddy (Nellore), Sreenivasulu Reddy (Ongole), Margani Bharat (Rajahmundry), Ravindra Kumar (Rajya Sabha), Ayodha Ramireddy (Rajya Sabha) and Subhash Chandra Bose (Rajya Sabha) attended the meeting and submitted their suggestions and proposals.

MP Devarayalu said the new Nadikudi-Sri Kalahasti line was nearing completion between Piduguralla-Savalyapuram connecting the existing Guntur-Guntakal route and this will provide direct train facility between Secunderabad-Vinukonda and beyond. He sought completion of the pending works without delay. Of the five decades-old Macherla-Gadwal-Raichur line, so far the line was completed between Gadwal-Raichur and opened for traffic, leaving the Gadwal-Macherla line unattended. He sought completion of the new line.

Devarayalu sought the doubling of the Nallapadu-Pagidipalli line, introduction of new Express trains from Guntur Junction to New Delhi and Varanasi, an intercity train between Guntur junction and Nandyal, and another intercity train between Guntur and Macherla. He sought stoppages for Intercity Express (02795) at Nadikudi Junction, Falaknuma Superfast Express (02704) at Sattenapalli and upgradation of Narasaraopet, Sattenapalli, Piduguralla and Nadikudi railway stations.

He also pleaded that one of the proposed four railway universities be set up in Guntur Railway Division area of Andhra Pradesh.

MP Prabhakar Reddy sought construction of two bridges, one ROB and another RUB in Nellore city. He sought completion of Nadikudi-Srikalahasti railway project with central government funds and erection of lifts at the railway stations. He urged the railways to make use of the 1,600 acres of railway land at Bitragunta to establish an industrial town. He told the GM to prevail upon RVNL (Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd) to develop parks in the vacant sites close to the third railway line being laid in Nellore city.

MP Anuradha sought ROB in Kesavaram and improvement of facilities at the railway stations. MP Srinivasulu sought ROBs at Ongole-Agraharam road, Tangutur-Anantavaram road, Singarayakonda-Pakala and Surareddypalem. MP Mopidevi Rao sent a representation to the meeting seeking a new railway line between Repalle-Machilipatnam, and a new train between Vijayawada-Mysore via Guntur, Gutti and Bangalore for IT professionals.

General manager Gajanan Mallya said SCR is running 100 per cent of mail/express trains originating in the SCR jurisdiction and also running more than 1/3rd of the passenger services.

The work on doubling of Guntur-Guntakal line is progressing fast, while the work on the Vijayawada-Bhimavaram and the Gudivada-Machilipatnam doubling with electrification has been completed. The doubling and electrification of Nidadavolu-Narasapur is also in the final stages of completion.

He said the third line works of Vijayawada-Gudur for a length of 30km has been completed and another stretch of 60km is under progress.
