Jayalalithaa fulfills poll promise of subsidy for pump sets
Chennai: Fulfilling one of the poll promises, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Wednesday said a subsidy of 80 per cent would be given for 10 HP solar powered motor pump sets and it would cost the state exchequer Rs 21.90 crore.
She said the food production in the state this year had reached 1.30,63,000 metric tonnes due to the measures taken by the government and came out with more announcements to improve the cultivation.
Making a statement under rule 110 in the Assembly, she said the government is giving subsidy for 5 HP motor pump sets from 2013 and a total of 2,130 farmers were benefiting from the scheme which helps to irrigate 10,500 acres. But, at places where the ground water is found at a much lower depth, 5 HP solar powered pump sets could not be used and so the AIADMK had given a poll promise that subsidy would be given for 10 HP motor pump sets too.
Agriculture equipment like tractors, multi-crop threshers and rotary would be bought by the government at a cost of Rs. 21.43 crore and rented to farmers. In the last five years, the government had bought equipment worth Rs 22 crore.
Farmers too would be given subsidy of Rs 31 crore to buy farming equipment.
Tamil Nadu is occupying an important place in the country in the production of vegetables and fruits. Such products without pesticides would be good for health. A new eco-friendly scheme of managing pests would be implemented at an area of 1,27,500 acres and Rs 10 crore would be allocated for it, the Chief Minister said.
The ambulance service scheme for cattle, which is available in five districts would be expanded to 27 districts to save cattle needing emergency treatment. The vaccination laboratory at the veterinary diseases prevention centre would be upgraded, she added.
Document registration to be fully computerised
Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Wednesday said all the processes connected to document registration would be computerised to enable people to prepare registration documents and send them using online facility.
The software prepared for the purpose had been introduced in 20 offices and it would be extended to all the offices. People could use the template facility to prepare the documents and send them to the registrar office using online facility. After receiving the mobile numbers and aadhar numbers, an SMS would be sent.
This would prevent fake registration and forgery and help people to apply for copies of documents and get them through online. The documents maintained by the revenue department on property rights could be verified through websites, enabling speedy transfer of pattas, Jayalalithaa said.
The funds for the traders welfare board would be increased to Rs 10 crore from '5 crore. Traders can download forms of the commercial taxes department, register for new website service and download payment receipts through e-seva centres of the government. Nine new buildings for commercial taxes department at Krishnagiri, Namakkal and Palani would be built.
