DTF faults decrease of funds for education dept

DTF state vice-president P. Shanthan said that KCR assured free KG to PG education but failed to implement it

HYDERABAD: Democratic Teachers’ Federation (DTF) state vice-president P. Shanthan alleged that TRS government had thrown the education sector thrown into a crisis over the past eight years by gradually decreasing the financial allocations from 13 per cent to 6.5 per cent of the Budget.

Speaking at the DTF district council meeting in Nizamabad on Sunday, Shanthan said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao assured free KG to PG education but failed to implement it. In 2018, the CM told teachers’ union leaders that he would resolve 18 issues highlighted by them but this was also not done.

He demanded that text books and uniforms should be supplied to the students in government schools immediately, as the new academic year had begun 45 days ago.
