TN government must ensure rights of dalits, says Tamilisai Soundararajan
Chennai: BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan warned that attempts by certain outfits and political organisations to influence the Dalits to opt for religious conversions cannot be tolerated and said this would only lead to violence and unwarranted social problems.
Referring to the alleged move of the Dalits in Nagapattinam district in the state to embrace another religion as they would not convince the Bhadrakali Amman
temple authorities in granting them permission to conduct the Mandagapadi ritual at the temple, Dr Tamilisai said on Sunday that the rights of the Dalits should be protected.
“The state government should devote special attention to safeguard their rights. The rights of the Dalits in Vedaranyam, Karur and other parts of Tamil Nadu should be protected by the state government,” she said.
