HYDERABAD: The Congress is getting set for its first ‘multipurpose’ public meeting at Khammam, the Jana Garjana, with AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi as the main draw, on July 2.
Former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former minister Jupally Krishna Rao, former MLA Gurnath Reddy and former MLC Arikela Narsa Reddy will join the Congress at the event.
It will also mark the conclusion of the People’s March padayatra of CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
A preparatory meeting, convened by TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, was attended by senior leaders Balram Naik, V. Hanumantha Rao and Srinivas Reddy.
Meanwhile, TPCC appointed programme coordinators and Assembly constituency coordinators to make a success of the Khammam meeting.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Jana Garjana programme coordinator B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said that senior leaders are camping in Khammam. He said they were expecting around three lakh people for the Khammam meeting.
