The former chief minister asked Mr Patil to be loyal to the Congress party as it had given them so much, party sources said.

Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has advised former minister M.B. Patil to be patient on getting a cabinet berth and that he could get a chance during the second phase of cabinet expansion.

When Mr Siddaramaiah was away at a naturopathy camp, Mr Patil and others who missed ministerial posts had revolted against the party leadership.

A day after Mr Siddaramaiah returned to the city from Mangaluru, Mr Patil, who once projected himself as a second-in-command in the Siddaramaiah government, met the Kuruba leader and closeted with him for more than an hour.

Mr Siddaramaiah told Mr Patil that since the Congress party had taken a decision to give a chance to new faces, his turn would come in the second phase of Cabinet expansion.
