Rift in BJP: Anti-BSY camp for Delhi

Mr Yeddyurappa has hit back at his detractors by appointing party in-charges to various districts, ignoring seniority of local leaders.

BENGALURU: A majority of the core committee members have decided to take their complaint against state unit president B.S. Yeddyurappa’s ‘arbitrary’ decision-making to central leaders in Delhi.

Sources in the party said Mr Yeddyurappa has hit back at his detractors by appointing party in-charges to various districts, ignoring seniority of local leaders. His latest move has upset leader of Opposition, Jagadish Shettar, former state unit president Pralhad Joshi, Union ministers H N Ananth Kumar and D V Sadananda Gowda, leader of Opposition in the Council, K.S. Eshwarappa, Santhosh, and former deputy chief minister R. Ashok. These leaders have decided to approach party’s organizing secretary Ramlal, and brief him about unilateral decisions taken by Mr Yeddyurappa in appointment of state and district office bearers. In another sudden move, Mr. Yeddyurappa has convened a meeting of office bearers on July 2 without giving prior intimation or taking the opinion of core committee members.

Sources said Mr Yeddyurappa’s move to reconstitute the core committee and replace some senior leaders has been blocked by organizing secrerary Ramlal. In the new list, Mr. Yeddyurappa has axed some senior leaders, including Santhosh and Nalin Kumar Kateel, and replaced them with Shobha Karandlaje, Murugesh Nirani, C.M. Udasi, Aravind Limbavali and Basavaraj Bommai, sources added.

Eshwarappa to meet Jaitley
Opposition leader in the Council K.S.Eshwarappa, who heads the rebel group, has decided to complain to central leaders against Mr Yeddyurappa. He will meet organizing secretary Ramlal and Union minister Arun Jaitley. Meanwhile, Opposition leader in the Assembly, Jagadish Shettar, and Pralhad Joshi, MP, who are in Delhi sought an appointment with Mr Ramlal, to provide an update on the state unit. A senior leader said the leaders would ask Mr Yeddyurappa to mend his ways.
