Kannur: The LDF Kannur district unit will felicitate all its ministers and MLAs from the district and Mahe MLA Dr V. Ramachandran on June 4. The LDF has eight MLAs from the district and four ministers including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Transport minister A.K. Saseendran, an MLA from Elathur in Kozhikode, will also be felicitated as he hails from Kadalayi in Kannur.
The programme will be held at Kannur Town Square at 5 pm. Kannur district has got the maximum share in the 19-member cabinet. Apart from Mr Vijayan (Dharmadam), industry minister E.P. Jayarajan (Mattannur), health minister K.K. Shylaja (Kuthuparamba) and ports minister Ramachandran Kadannappalli (Kannur) are from the district.
The other LDF MLAs are A.N Shamseer (Thalassery), C Krishnan (Payyannur), James Mathew (Taliparamba) and T.V. Rajesh (Kalliasseri). Mahe MLA Dr Ramachandran was an LDF-backed independent who put an end to 25 years of Congress veteran E Valsaraj's reign. Mahe is of Union territory of Puducherry, and he is the only independent in its 30-member House.
