BJP-JDS deal: Rajya Sabha vote for BBMP reins
BENGALURU: A seat each in Rajya Sabha and the Legislative Council as well as a coalition in BBMP is what leaders of JD (S) and BJP are aiming for as former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and former deputy chief minister R Ashok had a hush-hush conversation at a private hotel here on Tuesday.
Mr Kumaraswamy not only requested Mr Ashok to ensure that at least two excess votes of BJP are transferred to JD (S) candidate B M Farook to help him win next month’s election to Rajya Sabha, but also spoke of a long-term alliance and power-sharing in BBMP.
Quoting Mr Kumaraswamy, Mr Ashok told Deccan Chronicle: “He said that since we have 48 or 49 votes, including that of independent member, Halady Srinivas Shetty and three BSR Congress members, we should transfer the votes to JD(S). Now, I will take this message to Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa and discuss it with him. If Mr Yeddyurappa agrees, then I will meet Mr Kumaraswamy on Wednesday night and resume our negotiations.”
