Congress leaders blame BJP for disqualifying Rahul Gandhi as an MP

HYDERABAD: Veteran Congress leader and former home minister K, Jana Reddy on Friday said the party had dropped enough hints on aligning with Opposition parties including the BRS in its fight against the BJP and would announce its action plan in the next two days on further strengthening of the alignment.

Asked if there would be an electoral alliance with BRS in the Assembly elections, Jana Reddy did not rule out an alliance but replied in his usual style that people's opinion would be taken into consideration if circumstances led to such an unavoidable situation.

"We already gave hints on taking along all the parties to protect the nation's interests, save democracy and fight the autocratic regime of the BJP," he said, adding that perhaps Lord Rama would guide the party on how to react (to the poll alliance with the BRS).

On whether the Congress would reciprocate BRS support to Rahul Gandhi by extending solidarity to BRS MLA K. Kavitha who has been facing the heat of ED in the Delhi liquor scam, Jana Reddy said the Congress would seek the support of and extend its support to other parties when they were subjected to oppression. "It is all in the interest of people that we act," he said.

The senior Congress leader's observation came at a time the top state Congress leadership had been taking head-on with BRS, in particular the Chief Minister's son and daughter.

In another press conference, former union minister Renuka Chowdary said that she would fight legally against BJP leaders for making objectionable comments against her.

"Narendra Modi has no heart and the Congress will come out with a master plan to defeat the BJP at the Centre,” she said and added that Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan's son was arrested in a drug case because he belonged to Muslim family.

She said the Modis does not belong to the OBC category. The BJP leaders had no faith in the Constitution and had misused it, she alleged. After the mammoth response that Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra evoked, the BJP and the Prime Minister are in the grip of fear, the former Union minister claimed.
