Congress leader quits party post to support farmers

In the latest move, former minister P. Sudarshan Reddy resigned post of Congress in-charge for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency

NIZAMABAD: Exodus of Congress leaders to the ruling TRS is worrying the party cadre in Nizamabad district. In the backdrop of the Lok Sabha election, Congress senior leaders have been switching their loyalties to other political parties. In the latest move, former minister P. Sudarshan Reddy resigned post of Congress in-charge for the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency

Mr Sudarshan Reddy said he resigned the post in support of farmers who have filed nominations to contest in the Lok Sabha elections to mark their protest against the government’s failure to ensure remunerative prices for their produce.

He is reported to have expressed his willingness to continue in the Congress and work for party candidate Madhu Goud Yashki only in Bodhan Assembly constituency.

The only Congress MLA from undivided Nizamabad district, J. Surender has already left the party. Former MLC Arikela Narsa Reddy, party leader and businessman K. Narender Reddy, Armoor former municipal chairman Kanchetti Gangadhar and many other leaders have also joined the TRS.
