YSRC MLAs face fund crunch
Kakinada: There will be no development in the constituencies, if MLAs continue in the Opposition party in the present political scenario. All the 67 Opposition party YSRC MLAs are facing fund crunch in the state and they are not able to do development work in their constituencies.
“The decision to quit the opposition YSRC and join the ruling Telugu Desam has become absolutely essential in the present circumstances,” said Varupula Subba Rao, Prathipadu MLA. He said that all the YSRC MLAs were facing the same problem of being unable to take up any development or welfare work in the present constituencies.
Keeping the public's interest in mind, he had taken the decision to switch loyalties to TD from YSRC. Varupula Subba Rao is convening meetings with party cadre to gather their opinions and also trying to convince them for reasons to join in TD.
He told this paper that when he worked as MLA during Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's regime from 2004 to 2009, he could take up nearly Rs 900 crore worth of work. But now for the past two years, he could not do a single work due to political reasons.
“The CM N. Chandrababu Naidu will bring justice to our constituency, if I ask him. But, as an Opposition party MLA I can't ask him anything. If I join hands with Chandrababu, I can pay attention to development work and achieve it,” he said.
According to him, he established a Community Health Centre in Yeleswaram during YSR’s regime. But, now, the condition of the CHC is not good as before.
A degree college was sanctioned previously but the site has been not cleared till now. He sanctioned 400 house sites for poor in Lingamparty and Dharmavaram.
But, later the issue was facing court litigations. “I want to fulfil all these developments. Finance minister Y. Ramakrishnudu promised me to sanction a PHC at Lingamparty. If development has happened, why do we think of parties,” he questioned.
PHC to be established in Varupula’s native place
The ruling Telugu Desam is already implementing its promises given to opposition MLAs who are joining its fold. Prathipadu MLA Varupula Subbarao, who is joining TD soon, has got promise from finance minister Y. Ramakrishnudu that sanctioning of a Primary Health Centre at Lingamparthy, the native village of Varupula Subba Rao.
Disrict Medical and Health Officer Dr.N. Uma Sundari and team went to the village and interacted with people in the village. According to sources, the PHC has been upgraded as Community health Centre in Yeleswaram.
There was a long pending proposal that a PHC be set up in Lingamparthy village.
Sources said that Varupula Subba Rao urged Ramakrishnudu during discussions of joining in TD to set up a PHC. Sources said already the officials were instructed to speed up the works. Varupula Subbarao's followers are happy with the development. They hoped that house sites would be sanctioned to them soon.
