Kirron Kher, Kanhaiya Kumar pick a fight on Twitter

'Disgraceful statement by Kanhaiya Kumar that 1984 anti Sikh riots were done by mobs and not state sponsored.'

New Delhi: Days after his release, JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar sparked a furore by saying that there is a stark contrast between 1984 anti-Sikh riots and 2002 Godhra riots. His remark have been recently censured by BJP MP Kirron Kher on Twitter. Both Kumar and Kher took to Twitter to moot their points.

“Disgraceful statement by Kanhaiya Kumar that 1984 anti Sikh riots were done by mobs and not state sponsored,” Kher tweeted.

She further added, “So many Congress leaders were in the dock for the 1984 riots."

Miffed by Kumar’s statement, she said that his remarks on anti-Sikh riots shows his ignorance.

In reply, Kanhaiya tweeted, "We don't raise our conscience according to party colours."

While addressing a gathering during a panel discussion on 'Voices of Azaadi' during the 'Jashne-e-azaadi' festival, Kumar had said, "There is a difference between emergency and fascism. During emergency, goons of only one party were engaged into goondaism, in this (fascism) entire state machinery is resorting to goondaism. There is difference between riots of 2002 and 1984 Sikh riots."

Kanhaiya Kumar’s arrest after his alleged involvement in a pro-Afzal guru event at JNU on February 9 had not only triggered protests across varsities but also led to a heated debate on nationalism.
