Never said partners for life, Vellapally Natesan to BJP

The state leaders were squeezing in their nominees in various Central boards and corporations ignoring allies, he alleged.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan has warned the BJP that his political outfit Bharat Dharma Jana Sena has not given any promise of a lifelong partnership. He told DC that the BJP's national leadership had to incur no expenses in renaming the Central University of Kerala as Sree Narayana Guru University. NDA State Coordination Committee meeting took place for namesake and decided to wait for results of elections in five states. Mr Natesan is now busy arranging five-stage SN Trust elections.

Though he feigned ignorance about what had transpired at the coordination panel meeting the other day, he did not shy away from criticising the BJP for taking BDGS for granted. He said there was hardly two years for Lok Sabha elections and it is now more than a year since Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah promised to rename the CUK. “If they had any difficulty, they could have said it there and then," he said. "We are having a wait and watch policy. If they disagree after elections, we would have to rethink about the alliance. We have not given any promise to anyone including the BJP that we will stay with them forever.”

He also took a dig at the state leadership. He alleged they were squeezing in their nominees in various Central boards and corporations ignoring allies. Former BJP state secretary B. Radhakrishna Menon has recently been appointed as a member of National Livestock Mission general council when he was already holding a key post in the board of Cochin Shipyard. Natesan’s son and BDJS president Tushar Vellappally told DC that the meeting of NDA coordination committee had decided to wait until the central BJP leadership is free of election commitments.
