Congress to finalise list of candidates by February end

The final list would be submitted to the AICC and selection of Congress candidates would be completed by February-end.

Vijayawada: Congress has begun its efforts to win the forthcoming Assembly and Parliament election by selecting the candidates by the end of February month. The meeting of Congress Party Assembly constituencies’ conveners and the coordinating committee was held at Vijayawada on Thursday, under the aegis of Congress AP incharge Oommen Chandy and APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy.

Addressing the leaders, Mr Raghuveera Reddy said that the Congress will start receiving applications for the selection of party candidates to 175 Assembly and 25 Parliament seats of AP state in the coming days. The final list would be submitted to the AICC and selection of Congress candidates would be completed by February-end.

Mr Raghuveera Reddy claimed that the public was vexed with the corruption of BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they are getting ready to give a befitting lesson to the BJP in the coming election. He said that the Congress coming into power is inevitable and AICC president Rahul Gandhi will become the next PM.

He said that only Congress can provide SCS and it offers '2 lakh as loan waiver to farmers and Dwcra women and further gives minimum income guarantee. He stated that there are only 90 days of time for elections and asked the leaders to take the Congress manifesto to the masses.

Mentioning about beginning the process of receiving applications for the selection of Congress candidates very shortly, he said that the Congress will give priority to SC, ST, BC, Minorities and women in the selection of candidates for election.

Mr Reddy announced that the Congress will prepare regional, district, Assembly and Parliament constituencies-level manifestos and soon, a committee would be appointed for the same.

He announced that the Congress will begin SCS Bharosa Praja Yatra in 25 Parliament constituencies from the next week and will conduct public meetings in every Parliament constituency. He stated that around 25 political parties are united against the BJP and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, also supporting Rahul Gandhi as the future PM. He said that the BJP, TD, YSRC and Jana Sena are political rivals in these elections and asked the leaders to campaign against them.
