AIADMK govt all at sea without direction: MK Stalin
Chennai: Comparing the AIADMK government to a lonely boat, which is not able to find a direction at mid sea, leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said the Governor’s address is a mirage as it tries to create an impression that several actions had been taken when nothing had been done in reality.
In his address in the discussion on the motion to thank Governor’s address in the Assembly, Stalin charged that there is no responsible administration in the state and the Governor’s address, which should be a statement of policy, had listed something to fill the pages.
The state government is seeking funds, formation of Cauvery Management Board and central assistance on several issues, Stalin said and added that the DMK too would support the demands. He said the kuruvai paddy cultivation had been lost for the last five years, while samba cultivation too had suffered this year. Farmers are committing suicides and the state is facing a drought situation and scarcity of drinking water.
The woes of government employees had not been solved and there is no solution to unemployment despite the existence of four lakh vacancies in government. Before the next Global Investors Meet is held, the investments signed in the MoUs in the previous meet should be obtained.
Citing the state government’s announcement that compensation would be given to all the farmers after a report by the district collector, Stalin said such a report had not been sent by the collectors only show that the government had no concern for farmers.
Lok Ayuktha had been formed in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, he pointed out and said it had not been set up in Tamil Nadu. Stalin also demanded compensation for the people belonging to the fishermen community who were injured in the police assault on January 23.
