PM’s Call For Fuel Consumption Cut Enforced In MP, C’garh

Mr. Yadav has ordered to bring down the number of vehicles in his convoy from 13 to seven, officials said on Wednesday.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav and his ministerial colleagues on Wednesday took the initiative of trimming down their carcades during their movements in the capital city and official tours in the state in the wake of the call given by prime minister Narendra Modi to cut fuel consumption to combat the looming crisis, expected to trigger by the ongoing Iran war.

Mr. Yadav has ordered to bring down the number of vehicles in his convoy from 13 to seven, officials said on Wednesday.

The order came into effect on Wednesday with a viral video showing the considerable depleted carcade of the chief minister during his movements in the capital city.

Deputy chief minister Rajendra Shukla has also decided to withdraw his follow up and pilot vehicles from his convoy to bring down the strength of his carcade.

Official sources said that the ministers in the Mohan Yadav ministry have decided to use only one car during their movements in the city and official tours in the state.

The move by the chief minister and his ministerial colleagues to cut down the strength of their convoys has also influenced the senior officers of the state government to judiciously use the vehicles to save fuels.

Fifteen senior officers of Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh including the local divisional commissioner and district collector on Wednesday took a bus to supervise the works being carried out for the 2028 Simhasth Kumbh in Ujjain in the state, without using their individual official cars.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday declared that he would reduce his carcade strength during movements in the Raipur city and official tours in the state.

He said that his government is mulling a series of steps such as use of electrical vehicles and public transport and carpooling systems by his ministers and officers in response to the call given by Mr. Modi to cut fuel consumption.
