PM to visit Assam on Saturday, to inaugurate Moran Emergency Landing Facility, IIM-Guwahati and other key projects

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on Saturday to inaugurate an emergency landing facility at Moran in Tinsukia district and a new bridge connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati. He will also virtually launch the temporary campus of IIM-Guwahati and a data centre. He will flag off electric vehicles and address BJP workers before returning to Delhi.
Informing that this is his third visit in three months to Assam, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters that the PM is scheduled to arrive at the Chabua airfield in Dibrugarh district at 9.50 am and then fly to the Emergency Landing Facility in Moran aboard an Indian Air Force C-130 aircraft to inaugurate the Rs 100 crore-worth, 4.2-km-long facility.
The Prime Minister will also witness a 20-minute aerial display of fighters, transport aircraft and helicopters. Thereafter the Prime Minister will leave for Guwahati for the second leg of his tour aboard the C-130 from the ELF.
Mr Sarma said that in Guwahati, the Prime minister is scheduled to inaugurate the Rs 3,000-crore Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu, connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati. The six-lane bridge will facilitate seamless connectivity between Guwahati and North Guwahati, boosting regional growth, enhancing seismic safety and accelerating development across the State Capital Region.
Pointing out that Mr Modi will also virtually inaugurate the temporary campus of the IIM-Guwahati and an AI-enabled hyperscale data centre from the nearby Lachit Ghat, the chief minister asserted that Assam will take a big academic leap with the inauguration of IIM-Guwahati and will become one of the select states to have an IIT, IIM, AIIMS and all other pioneer institutions to cater to the next generation.
The National Data Centre in Guwahati is set to become the backbone of IT infrastructure in the region and by adopting a 'Cloud First' approach, it will enhance the capacity of e-governance initiatives and ensure secure digital services.
The prime minister will also flag off 100 electric vehicles (EVs) for Guwahati from the same venue.
Mr Modi will conclude his visit to the state by addressing a public meeting of BJP booth-level workers here before returning back to New Delhi.
