PM Modi To Reach Out to Youth Through Sports Dialogue
To hold nationwide Khelo India initiative
New Delhi: Amid protests by youths over examination paper leaks and poor conditions in government schools, the Modi government and the BJP are stepping up their outreach to young people.
After reaching out through social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually interact with students and youths across the country on Thursday as part of the “Khelo India Dialogue”, a nationwide programme focusing on sports, youth leadership and civic participation.
The programme aims to engage young people in India’s sporting journey, gather their ideas and aspirations, and encourage their participation in building a youth-led “Viksit Bharat”.
Organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) as part of the National Sports Day 2026 celebrations, the programme will be held at two colleges in every district across states and Union territories.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Khelo India Dialogue will bring sports, youth leadership, civic responsibility, volunteering, fitness and nation-building onto a common platform.
“It will provide a direct channel for young people to engage with the country’s sporting ambitions, while ensuring that their ideas and perspectives become part of the continuing conversation on India’s youth and sports ecosystem,” the PMO said.
The national programme will be followed by local interactions involving young participants, MY Bharat volunteers, sportspersons and public representatives. Young people interested in sports will also interact directly with leading Indian athletes and medal winners.
During the “Yuva Samvaad”, participants will discuss sports infrastructure, coaching facilities, sports science, leadership and inclusive participation.
The dialogue will focus on five themes: improving India’s sports ecosystem; nurturing talent for the 2036 Olympics through scientific talent identification, transparent selection and long-term athlete development; creating youth leaders through governance platforms and MY Bharat-led volunteering; developing civic-mindedness and future-ready skills; and promoting a Nasha Mukt Yuva movement using sports and peer networks to combat substance abuse.
The anti-drug initiative will be reinforced by weekly Jan Bhagidari activities under the Prime Minister’s 100-week nationwide campaign launched on August 2.
