PM To Launch ₹71,000 Cr Infra Projects in 4 States

On Friday, Mr Modi will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crores in Bihar’s Karakat.

NEW DELHI: Besides wooing poll-bound Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sikkim, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and May 30. Sikkim will be the first stop on Mr Modi's two-day trip to four states from Thursday. During the tour, the Prime Minister will launch numerous development projects worth over Rs 71,000 crores and address several rallies.

The Prime Minister will begin the tour by attending the "Sikkim@50" celebrations on Thursday and lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects in the state before addressing the gathering in Gangtok.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that marking 50 years of statehood, the Prime Minister will participate in the Sikkim@50 programme. The Sikkim government has planned a yearlong series of activities under the theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha and Samarth Sikkim”, celebrating the essence of the state’s cultural richness, tradition, natural splendour and its history.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects in Sikkim, which include a new 500-bed district hospital worth over ₹750 crores in Namchi district, a passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling in Gyalshing district's Pelling and a statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Amrit Udyan at Sangkhola in Gangtok district, among others. He will also release the commemorative coin, souvenir coin and stamp on Sikkim's 50 years of statehood.

In West Bengal, where the elections are slated for early next year, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the city gas distribution project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts.

The project, worth over `1,010 crores, aims to provide piped natural gas to more than 2.5-lakh households and over 100 commercial establishments and industries, besides providing compressed natural gas (CNG) to vehicular traffic by establishing around 19 CNG stations in line with the minimum work programme targets stipulated by the government.

In Bihar, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly constructed passenger terminal of Patna airport on Thursday evening, built at a cost of around `1,200 crores that can handle one crore passengers per year. He will also lay the foundation stone of the new civil enclave of Bihta airport worth over `1,410 crores. The Bihta airport will serve the town which is rapidly emerging as an educational hub near Patna, housing IIT Patna and the proposed NIT Patna campus.

On Friday, Mr Modi will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth over `48,520 crores in Bihar’s Karakat.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Nabinagar super thermal power project, stage II (3x800 MW) in Aurangabad district, worth over `29,930 crores. The project aims at ensuring energy security for Bihar and eastern India.

In a major boost to the road infrastructure and connectivity in the region, Mr Modi will lay the foundation stone for various road projects, including the four-laning of the Patna–Arrah–Sasaram section of NH-119A, the six-laning of the Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata section of NH-319B, the Ramnagar–Kacchi Dargah stretch of NH-119D and the construction of a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli.

Mr Modi will also inaugurate the four-laning of the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH–22, worth around `5,520 crores and the four-laning of the elevated highway and at-grade improvements at Gopalganj Town on NH–27, among others.

In line with his commitment to improving rail infrastructure across the country, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj worth over `1,330 crores, among others.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects aimed at boosting the region's infrastructure and connectivity. He will inaugurate the section from Chunniganj station to Kanpur Central of the Kanpur Metro rail project worth over `2,120 crores. Additionally, he will also inaugurate road widening and strengthening work of the GT Road.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a 220 kV substation in Sector 28 at Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) in Gautam Buddh Nagar to meet the growing energy demands of the region. He will also inaugurate 132 kV substations worth over `320 crores at Ecotech-8 and Ecotech-10 in Greater Noida.

Mr Modi will inaugurate a 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project in Kanpur worth over `8,300 crores and three 660 MW units of the Ghatampur thermal power project worth over `9,330 crores, bolstering the power supply significantly.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a 40 MLD (million litres per day) tertiary treatment plant at Bingawan in Kanpur worth over `290 crores. It will enable the reuse of treated sewage water, promoting water conservation and sustainable resource management in the region.
