Pawar Seeks Government Dialogue With Agitating MPSC Aspirants

Pawar emphasised that meaningful communication between state leadership and student bodies is essential to end the deadlock.

Mumbai: Senior NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar called on the Maharashtra Government on Sunday to initiate immediate discussions with demonstrating MPSC candidates to address their concerns regarding fair exam practices and systemic reforms.

It is the moral responsibility of the State Government to provide justice and listen to the concerns of competitive exam aspirants across Maharashtra, he said.

Aspirants appearing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams have been protesting across major cities in Maharashtra — including Pune and Mumbai — demanding institutional transparency, administrative overhauls and the removal of the commission chairman following recurring examination delays.

The agitation centres on allegations of examination irregularities, paper leaks and delays in recruitment.

A delegation of protesting students met with Pawar in Pune to explain their ongoing deadlock with the administration.

The veteran leader contacted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis via phone to request immediate attention to the matter and urge a formal dialogue between government representatives and student leaders.

Pawar emphasised that meaningful communication between state leadership and student bodies is essential to end the deadlock.

“There is a clear sense of unease among students in Pune, Mumbai and some other parts of the state. They have taken up a struggle and launched an agitation over their demands.

Keeping this unrest in mind, the state government and concerned institutions need to take note of the situation and take steps to find a way forward,” he said.

“On one side there is the chief minister and his colleagues, and on the other are the student representatives.

If there is no dialogue between them, the problem will not be solved. If the issue is to be resolved, there has to be meaningful communication,” he said.
