Pak Had No Chance To Breach Multi-Layered Indian Defence

Director-General of Air Operations, Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, trashed social media rumours that the IAF had hit Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, which reportedly has a nuclear facility.

New Delhi:Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai said on Monday that with India’s multi-layered air defence system, there was no chance that Pakistan could have broken through and targeted Indan airfields and logistic installation.

India also found the debris of Chinese PL-15 air-to-air missiles and the wreckage of the Turkish-origin YIHA and Songar drones which were used by Pakistan. The officials also released pictures of a downed Pakistani Mirage jet.

Director-General of Air Operations, Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, trashed social media rumours that the IAF had hit Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, which reportedly has a nuclear facility. “We have not hit Kirana Hills, whatever is there,” he said. The DGAO was asked about social media rumours that India had hit a site called Kirana Hills, which reportedly has a nuclear storage facility during its counter-offensive.

Regardng the air defence systems, Lt Gen. Ghai said during a joint services press conference: “In our inventory, we have a unique mixture of counter-unmanned aerial systems, air defence weapons and mediums of electronic warfare. That is why you saw when the Pakistan Air Force attacked our airfields and logistic installation on May 9 and 10, they failed to breach this strong air defence grid.”

Lt Gen. Ghai used a cricket analogy to show the robustness of India’s air defence systems which fought back against the recent Pakistan aggression, saying that whatever the enemy’s intentions, some system of India’s layered grid would bring down the aerial threat before it reached its intended target.

“In the 1970s, there was the Ashes series between Australia and England and two Australian pacers — Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee — who have a name in cricket history. They destroyed the batting line-up of England. The Australians came up with a saying: ‘From Ashes to Ashes, from Dust to Dust, if Thommo don’t get ya, then Lillee surely must,” Lt Gen. Ghai said.

“If you see the layers (of India’s air defence system), you’ll understand what I am trying to say. Even if you crossed all the layers, one of the layers of this grid system will take you down,” he added.

India’s strikes hit an airbase in Sargodha and there were some reports that the base is linked to an underground nuclear storage facility in Kirana Hills.

“In spite of some minor damage incurred, all our military bases and systems continue to remain fully operational, and ready to undertake any further missions, should the need do arise,” Air Marshal Bharti said.

On being asked about the message being conveyed by using Ramdhari Singh Dinkar’s poem in the video presentation, Air Marshal Bharti recited the couplet – “Vinay Na Manat Jaldhi Jad, Bhaye Teen Din Beet, Bole Ram Sakop Tab, Bhai Bin Hoi Na Preet”. Translated into English, the couplet reads: “The ocean remained unmoved by humble requests, three days passed. Then Lord Ram, with rising anger, declared without fear, there can be no love.” This couplet refers to the time when Lord Ram, waiting for the Sea God to grant him passage to Lanka, loses patience after three days and becomes angry. He declares that love does not exist without fear, and lifts his bow. Only then does the Sea God appears and helps Lord Ram. “What message is being given... So, a hint is enough for an intelligent person,” Air Marshal Bharti added.

Air Marshal Bharti said the Indian military's fight was with terrorists and their support infrastructure, but it was a “pity” that the Pakistani military chose to bat for the terrorists.”

On the air defence systems, Air Marshal Bharti said: “All this was brought together as an efficient and effective AD (aid defence) environment, by the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) of the lAF, which accords us net-centric op capability,”.

“I would like to place on record the performance and efficacy demonstrated by even the older and battle-proven AD weapons like the Pechora, OSA-AK and the LLAD guns, in countering the Pakistani threat vectors in the current operations.” Air Marshal Bharti said another highlight of 'Operation Sindoor' has been the stellar performance of indigenous AD weapons like the Akash system.
