Prashant Satpathy, killed in front of family, was on vacation in Kashmir's Pahalgam

The mortal remains of Prashant Satpathy, the Odia youth who lost his life in Tuesday’s terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, will be brought to Odisha later today. The repatriation is being coordinated by local authorities with assistance from the Odisha government and officials in New Delhi.
According to official sources, the body will arrive in Delhi from Srinagar this afternoon and will be flown to Bhubaneswar on a late evening flight, expected to land around 9:45 PM. The Office of the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi is overseeing the entire process.
Prashant was killed in a sudden terrorist attack while traveling with his wife, Priyadarshini Satpathy, and their nine-year-old son. The assailants opened fire in broad daylight, killing him in front of his family. His wife and child escaped physical harm but were left deeply traumatised.
A resident of Ishani village under Remuna block in Balasore district, Prashant had gone to Pahalgam on a family vacation on April 20. His death has cast a shadow over his hometown, where preparations are underway to receive his body with full honours. State representatives are expected to be present during the final rites.
“We have come here to stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief,” said a relative. Condemning the attack, Prashant’s brother said, “The Government of India must give a strong and fitting reply to the terrorists.” A family elder added, “Our nephew is on-site to coordinate the transfer of the mortal remains to Delhi. With the backbone of the family gone, his wife is devastated.”
Prashant’s elder brother, speaking on behalf of the family, said, “This is an unimaginable loss for us. We plan to conduct his last rites tomorrow.”
