Owaisi Calls Pradhan’s Resignation A Victory For Those Who Believe In Constitution
Owaisi said that while Pradhan had resigned, several weaknesses continued to plague the education system
Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has described the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a victory for the people who oppose arrogance, communalism and majoritarian politics and believe in the Constitution and brotherhood.
Speaking to media in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, Owaisi said that while Pradhan had resigned, several weaknesses continued to plague the education system. He said unemployment among the youth and rising inflation had left people with no clear path ahead, alleging that the government was disconnected from the ground realities.
Owaisi said nearly half of the country's population had sent a message that it was unhappy with the government. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tried to prevent Pradhan's resignation through a video reel and that his supporters had also made efforts in the same direction. However, he claimed, the government remained disconnected from the concerns of the youth, farmers and the unemployed, while people continued to struggle with inflation and unemployment.
On the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Owaisi said the AIMIM was preparing for the polls and hoped that its candidates would emerge victorious. Questioning Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over incidents of question paper leaks in the state, he asked who should be held responsible, pointing out that the Chief Minister was in charge of the state. He alleged that instead of accepting responsibility for the failures, the government was trying to shift the blame onto others.
Owaisi, who addressed a public meeting in Moradabad, appealed to people in Uttar Pradesh to build their own political leadership. He said voters had elected leaders from the Samajwadi Party and other parties as MLAs and MPs on several occasions, but the expected development had not taken place at the grassroots level. He alleged that many elected representatives failed to raise issues of injustice faced by the people in the Assembly and Parliament.
He stressed the need for a strong leadership for minorities in Uttar Pradesh, saying such leadership would strengthen democracy and help address people's problems. On the controversy over nameplates on shops and establishments along the Kanwar route and restrictions involving non-vegetarian food outlets, Owaisi said the government should comply with the orders of the Supreme Court.
