Operation Sindoor Showed IAF’s Destructive Power, Air Defence: Air Chief

Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh highlights combat readiness, air defence and Air Warriors

New Delhi: Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh on Thursday said the force was ready to meet any contingency and that Operation Sindoor had demonstrated its destructive power and effective air defence capabilities to the world.

Addressing the 94th Air Force Day celebrations at Air Force Station Hindan in Ghaziabad, he said the theme, “Infallible, Impervious and Precise”, reflected the force’s strength and resolve.

He said the world had witnessed the speed with which the IAF moved into combat operations last year.

Air Chief Marshal Singh said rapid global changes, geopolitical uncertainty and emerging conflicts had demonstrated the importance of air power in protecting national interests. The IAF understood its responsibilities and remained alert, committed and prepared for any contingency, he said.

An air force’s true strength lay in its operational preparedness rather than merely in possessing advanced aircraft and systems, he said. It depended on how quickly and confidently the force could act when called upon.

He said the IAF’s operational capability and readiness were progressing in the right direction, with a culture of ownership and accountability strengthening across the force.

Equipment, technology and platforms were tools, while the true source of the IAF’s success lay in its Air Warriors, he said.

Air Chief Marshal Singh said personnel were upholding the defence services’ core values, looking beyond tenure-based mindsets and contributing to nation-building. Commanders were delegating responsibilities to improve decision-making and develop leadership among personnel, he said.

“Every Air Warrior is a vital link in our organization. We should all take pride in our duties and responsibilities and resolve that, no matter how challenging the circumstances, we will never be the weak link that compromises the strength of the Air Force chain,” he added.

The IAF chief reviewed the ceremonial Air Force Day parade. The celebrations showcased the force’s operational capabilities, technological advances, professionalism and heritage.

An Air Force Day aerial display will be held at Namo Ghat in Varanasi on October 25, 2026.
