Meet the Indian Army Officers Who Created the Operation Sindoor Design

Lt Col Harsh Gupta and Hav Surinder Singh created the now-iconic emblem that captured the spirit of India’s precision strikes on May 7

A simple yet powerful symbol of India's 'Operation Sindoor' that became the face of India's military response to terror, a tribute to the widows husband killed n the Pahalgam terror attack, was designed by two Indian Army officers — Lt Col Harsh Gupta and Havildar Surinder Singh.

The logo—now etched in the nation’s memory—features a bowl of vermillion, symbolising the sindoor traditionally worn married Hindu women. The bowl of sindoor forms the first 'O' in the word sindoor, while the second 'O' is subtly encircled with a smear of the same red powder, evoking both loss and remembrance.

The logo was unveiled shortly after India's strikes on May 7 against nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Operation Sindoor Logo Designed by Army Personnel Becomes Symbol of India's Resolve

According to the Indian Army's special edition of Baatcheet magazine, the logo was created in-house by the Social Media Section of the Additional Directorate General of Strategic Communication.
