Omar Abdullah Quashes August 5 Rumours
No Major Changes Expected on Article 370 Anniversary: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has dismissed rumours of significant developments in Jammu and Kashmir around the anniversary of Article 370’s revocation, stating that neither "negative" nor "positive" changes are expected on that date (August 5).
Despite speculation fuelled by recent events, such as high-level meetings in Delhi including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah separately calling on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan hours apart, Abdullah expressed skepticism about immediate action. He emphasized ongoing optimism for statehood but clarified that no major announcements or shifts are anticipated on August 5.
In a post on ‘X’, the Chief Minister said, “I’ve heard every possible permutation & combination about what to expect in J&K tomorrow so let me stick my neck out and say nothing will happen tomorrow - fortunately nothing bad will happen but unfortunately nothing positive will happen either”. He added, “I’m still optimistic about something positive for J&K in this monsoon session of Parliament but not tomorrow. And no, I haven’t had any meetings or conversations with people in Delhi. This is just a gut feeling. Let’s see this time tomorrow.”
