Bhubaneswar: In a dramatic twist of irony, a YouTube motivational speaker who preached honesty and discipline was on Wednesday arrested for burglary.
Manoj Singh, a resident of Cuttack and creator of the channel “Change Your Life,” was taken into custody by Bharatpur police in connection with a break-in at a residence in Khandagiri Bari.
Singh had cultivated an online persona as a self-help guru, regularly posting videos encouraging viewers to live a crime-free and principled life. However, police revealed that behind the scenes, he was involved in multiple thefts — deceiving his followers while profiting from illegal activities.
The investigation began after a burglary was reported in Khandagiri Bari. Using surveillance and tracking methods, police arrested Singh and recovered stolen property, including 200 grams of gold, over Rs 1 lakh in cash, a motorcycle, and the iron rod used in the crime.
The homeowner, recounting the incident, said: “Neither of us were home at the time — I was at the office, and my husband was attending a meeting. When he returned around 2 PM, he found the main door and locker room broken. All our gold jewelry and Rs 5 lakh in cash were missing. Had we stored our valuables in a bank locker, this could have been prevented. I urge everyone to secure their belongings properly.”
