Between April and December 2025, the state government directed the Vigilance department to investigate 125 cases—an all-time high and the largest number ever ordered within such a short span. Officials described the development as a clear signal of the government’s renewed emphasis on transparency and accountability in public administration.

The department’s institutional strengthening has also received external validation, with the State Vigilance Academy securing ISO certification, underscoring improved professional standards and operational systems.

A high-level review meeting of the Vigilance department was held at Lok Seva Bhawan on Thursday evening under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. During the meeting, officials informed that verdicts were delivered in 488 vigilance cases in 2025 alone, resulting in convictions in 108 cases.

Significantly, the department recorded its highest-ever disposal of disproportionate assets cases, with judgments delivered in 173 such matters—another first in the State’s vigilance history.

Senior officials noted that never before has the government issued directives to probe such a large number of cases within a nine-month period, calling it a landmark phase in Odisha’s anti-corruption efforts.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to a corruption-free Odisha, CM Majhi urged the Vigilance Department to sustain the momentum and continue its intensified campaign in the coming months.
