Odisha: Two interstate chain-snatchers injured in police encounter
The suspects, identified as Sonu Yadav and Manish Yadav, are reportedly involved in more than 15 cases of robbery, with a criminal network spanning from Bihar to Odisha.

Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, two alleged interstate chain-snatchers were injured in a police encounter late Thursday night during an operation conducted by the Commissionerate Police under the Badagada police station limits in Bhubaneswar.
The suspects, identified as Sonu Yadav and Manish Yadav, are reportedly involved in more than 15 cases of robbery, with a criminal network spanning from Bihar to Odisha.
According to police sources, the duo attempted to commit a robbery in the Badagada area when law enforcement personnel intervened. As they tried to flee on a motorcycle, they were intercepted near the Bankual locality. The suspects allegedly opened fire at the police in an attempt to escape, prompting officers to retaliate. Both men sustained gunshot injuries to their left legs during the exchange.
Following the encounter, they were given initial medical treatment at Capital Hospital before being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further care.
The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has launched a detailed investigation to determine the full extent of their operations and identify any associates involved in their criminal activities.
“The criminals operating under the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate should not be under the illusion that they can evade action. They mistake us for being soft, but we have the firepower to bring them to justice,” said Commissioner of Police S. Dev Datta Singh.
