Odisha CMO Highlights Deccan Chronicle Story On Shaktishree Initiative
The shared story highlights Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s launch of Shaktishree — a flagship programme designed to safeguard and empower girl students across higher education institutions in Odisha: Reports

BHUBANESWAR: The official X handle of the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office (@CMO_Odisha) on Sunday shared a Deccan Chronicle story titled “Odisha CM Launches Shaktishree to Empower and Protect Girl Students,” bringing state-wide attention to a landmark initiative for campus safety and empowerment.
The shared story highlights Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s launch of Shaktishree — a flagship programme designed to safeguard and empower girl students across higher education institutions in Odisha.
Accompanied by a photograph of the Chief Minister addressing the gathering, the CMO’s post read: “In a decisive step towards safer and more inclusive campuses, Hon'ble CM Shri @MohanMOdisha launched the #Shaktishree initiative.”
The initiative marks a comprehensive approach to supporting the physical and mental well-being of students, especially girls, across the state's 730 government and government-aided colleges and 16 universities. It reflects a strategic shift toward a more student-centric and responsive academic environment.
A key feature of Shaktishree is the introduction of a mobile application that includes an anonymous complaint system, an SOS alert button, and direct access to mental health support. This integration of digital tools offers not just security, but a strong message of institutional reassurance to young learners navigating academic life.
Adding a personal touch to the initiative is the appointment of Shaktishree Apas — five dedicated women mentors in each district who will directly engage with students. This mentorship model is expected to bridge the trust gap between students and institutional authorities, offering a grassroots-level channel for guidance and support.
By spotlighting the Deccan Chronicle report on its social media platform, the Odisha CMO has not only amplified media coverage but also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to gender-sensitive governance and proactive student welfare policies. It signals a decisive stride towards accountability, inclusivity, and institutional reform in higher education.
