NTA allows challenges at Rs 200 per question; re-exams ordered for three subjects
New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer keys for 84 subjects of the UGC-NET June 2026 examination, with candidates allowed to raise objections till August 18.
Candidates can view the provisional answer keys and their recorded responses on the official UGC-NET website and challenge any answer by paying a processing fee of Rs 200 per question. The challenge window, which opened on August 16, will remain available till 11.59 pm on August 18.
The NTA said challenges would be examined by designated subject experts. If an objection is accepted, the answer key will be revised and the correction applied uniformly to all candidates in that subject. The Rs 200 processing fee will also be refunded for every accepted challenge.
The final answer key will be published before the results are declared and no further challenge to the key will be entertained after the objection window closes or after declaration of the results.
The UGC-NET June examination was conducted from June 22 to 30 across 87 subjects for Junior Research Fellowship, eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programmes.
In a significant development announced later on Sunday, the NTA ordered a fresh examination in English, Commerce and Sociology after a committee found numerous factual, typographical and translation errors, garbled book titles, incorrect names of scholars, grammatical mistakes and repetition of several previously asked questions in the three papers.
The English re-examination will be held on September 9 from 9 am to noon, while Commerce will be conducted the same day from 3 pm to 6 pm. The Sociology re-test will be held on September 10 from 9 am to noon. No additional examination fee will be charged.
The NTA clarified that results for the remaining 84 subjects would be processed according to schedule and would not be delayed because of the re-examination in the three subjects.
