Not Aware Of Application Of My Own PhD Thesis: Mohan Yadav
Addressing the ‘National Researchers Meet’ here, Mr. Yadav recounted how he struggled to select a topic to do his PhD during his academic life, being conscious that it should be an original one and not plagiarism.

Bhopal: In a subtle criticism of the manner in which the PhD topics are selected by the research scholars in the educational institutions, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday said that “I myself fail to comprehend the application of my own PhD thesis”.
Addressing the ‘National Researchers Meet’ here, Mr. Yadav recounted how he struggled to select a topic to do his PhD during his academic life, being conscious that it should be an original one and not plagiarism.
“Sometimes, we ourselves do not know about the application of our PhD thesis. Trouble mounts for the PhD scholar particularly if he happens to be a politician since the perception held by a politician in the society is that he cannot do PhD. Hence, for a politician, holding a PhD is double trouble”, he said.
The chief minister said that it took him three days to select the topic for his PhD thesis and finally settled on political science on the subject, ‘BJP and (Sunder Lal) Patwa government (of Madhya Pradesh- January 1980- February 1980 and 1990-1992)’, so that it will look original and he will be comfortable to reply to any queries on it.
Mr. Yadav’s diversified academic career covers BSc, LLB, MA, MBA and PhD.
Calling upon the research scholars to focus on high quality research, he said that research is not merely an academic activity, it is a power that changes the direction of the society and nation.
“Any research should be of such high quality that it gives all of us a new vision and new direction”, he said.
He said that researchers should not confine themselves to traditional assumptions, but present such research with new ideas and scientific outlook that can bring positive change in the society.
