No Shortage Of CNG, Hardeep Singh Puri Warns Against Misinformation
The Minister also noted that some people were trying to exploit the current global situation by creating artificial shortages and spreading misinformation.
New Delhi: Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri today said that there is no shortage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the country. He said the government is expanding the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households, and efforts are being made to convert LPG connections to PNG connections.
The CNG price in the national capital was hiked again by Rs 2 per kg two weeks ago, taking the cumulative hike to Rs 4 per kg. Despite the overall fuel hike, reports state that automobile dealers in India have witnessed a surge in enquiries for fuel-efficient and cleaner powertrain-technology-driven vehicles in the month of May. This came amid a series of price hikes announced for petrol, diesel and CNG by the oil marketing companies in the country. CNG vehicles continued to be popular among buyers, with their market share rising to nearly 22% in the 2026 fiscal year.
