NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two more people, Harman Harry and Jashan Saini, in connection with an IED explosion at Nalagarh police station in Himachal Pradesh on January 1.
Nalagarh police initially registered the case. The NIA took over the investigation and re-registered it on May 8 under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
During the course of investigation, the involvement of two accused, Harry and Saini surfaced. NIA has arrested both accused persons pursuant to the investigation into the conspiracy connected with the IED explosion which is aimed at unravelling the wider network connected with the attack.
Prior to the present arrests, NIA had arrested six accused persons in the present case, namely Mahavir Kumar alias Kaka, Ajay Mehra, Manpreet Singh alias Mani, Arshdeep Singh Kandola alias Arsh Kandola, Karanpreet Singh and Diljot Singh Saini.
These accused had initially been arrested by the Punjab Police in connection with a case registered at Police Station SSOC, SAS Nagar at Mohali in Punjab, and were subsequently arrested by NIA in connection with the present case. The agency continues its investigation to ascertain the specific roles of the accused, establish the linkages between them, identify other persons associated with the conspiracy, and determine the full extent of the criminal conspiracy relating to the IED explosion, the NIA said in a statement.
