NCB Advisory On Taking Medicines To Saudi Arabia

The NCB cautioned that carrying medicines in excess of prescribed limits could also invite regulatory action: Reports

NEW DELHI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Friday advised Indian travellers to Saudi Arabia to obtain prior permission for carrying certain “restricted” medicines in and out of the Kingdom, following the introduction of a mandatory online clearance system.

In a statement, the central anti-narcotics agency said the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, India Country Office, Saudi Arabia, has formally informed that some medicines legally available in India or other countries may be prohibited or subject to restrictions in the Kingdom.

The NCB cautioned that carrying medicines in excess of prescribed limits could also invite regulatory action. Saudi Arabia has launched an electronic service platform for submitting applications and related details, allowing travellers to seek online permission for medicines intended for personal use. Applications must be submitted by travellers themselves or through their authorised representatives via the platform.

The advisory further urged travellers to consult the official list of restricted and prohibited medicines issued by Saudi authorities before undertaking travel. Indian travellers have also been advised to verify the permissibility of medicines they plan to carry and to obtain the required approvals, wherever applicable, prior to departure.
