According to police, one of the rescued women is a lead actress in Marathi films, while the other has appeared in Bengali films and played cameo roles in Bollywood productions.
The accused, who allegedly worked as a make-up artist with links to several celebrities, was apprehended red-handed during the operation. Police suspect he was acting as a pimp and facilitating the illegal activities.
Investigators are now probing the financial trail of the racket and questioning those involved. The role of the hotel management is also under scrutiny to determine whether its staff had any knowledge of or involvement in the alleged prostitution network.
