MP: Woman, Accused Of Eloping With Another Man, Paraded With Hubby On Shoulders, Her Head Tonsured In MP Village

Bhopal: A woman in a village in Madhya Pradesh’ Jhabua district was forced to carry her husband on her shoulders and paraded after being accused of eloping with another man, police said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the married woman was also thrashed by the mob while being paraded around the village.

Later, her head was tonsured to shame her in public.

The incident took place in the Balawas village under Kakanwani police station on Monday.

It came to light when the video capturing the torture of women by a mob in the village went viral on social media on Tuesday.

The police sprang to action after the video surfaced.

“The victim was located and provided with security by the police”, the local additional superintendent of police Pratipal Singh Mahobia said.

According to the police, four people including her husband have been arrested in connection with the incident so far.

Ten people were suspected to be involved in the incident and search was on for other accused, police said.

The accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 74,76, 85, 296 (A), 115 (2), and 351 (3), which pertain to assault, unlawful acts, and outraging dignity.
