MP Wears Diwali Look as 3.77 Crore Earthen Lamps Lit to Celebrate PM's Birthday
Madhya Pradesh lights 3.77 crore earthen lamps and launches Swamitwa Yojana to mark PM Modi's 76th birthday; Chhattisgarh also celebrates
Lighting of 3.77 crore earthen lamps across Madhya Pradesh and unveiling of a welfare scheme to waive property registration fee for the poor marked the celebration of 76th birthday of prime minister Narendra Modi by the state on Thursday.
BJP national president Nitin Naveen and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav led the celebration in the state by taking part in a grand show of lighting the earthen lamps at the banks of Shipra River and Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain in the evening.
Around 33.27 lakh earthen lamps were lit at the same time at seven pm at these places, billed as a world record, an official spokesman here said.
The entire bank of river Shipra in Ujjain wore a dazzling look with the lighting of lakhs of earthen lamps at the same time.
Earlier in the afternoon, Mr. Naveen who is currently on a two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh, led a roadshow after arriving at the Indore airport on Thursday.
He along with chief minister Mr. Yadav launched the ‘Swamitwa Yojana’, a welfare scheme envisaging to waive property registration fee for the 50 lakh beneficiaries, at Indore.
Mr. Naveen said that the scheme is a great birthday gift for Mr. Modi.
Earlier in the morning, chief minister Mr. Yadav made a ‘special appeal’ to the people to light an earthen lamp in their houses to mark the celebration of Mr. Modi’s 76th birthday.
An official press release issued here in the evening detailed the number of earthen lamps lit in different districts in the state.
State BJP president launched a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ in the state on the occasion.
Problems of local people across the state will be resolved by the ruling BJP during the campaign period.
Chhattisgarh also celebrated Mr. Modi’s birthday with chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai leading a programme to light earthen lamps and perform ‘Aarti’ at the Mahadev Ghat in Raipur.
The ruling BJP in Chhattisgarh also launched a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ on the occasion.
