MP: Urban, Rural Civic Body Polls In 2027 To Go Digital, Fully

The elections in the urban and rural civic bodies in 2027 will be conducted with the help of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the office of the state election commission (SEC) said.

While elections in the urban civic bodies and zilla parishads and janpad panchayats in 2022 were held with the help of EVMs, the polls for the ward members and sarpanches were held with ballot papers.

For the first time in Madhya Pradesh, polls for the ward members and sarpanches in 2027 will be held with the help of EVMs, officials said on Friday.

The poll officials from various districts are being given training on the conduct of elections in the urban and rural civic bodies, kickstarting the preparations for the 2027 polls to these bodies.
