MP: Tribal Woman Dragged From Her Hut By Tiger, Body Found In Forest

BHOPAL: A 32-year-old tribal woman was dragged from her hut in a village, falling under the buffer zone of Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district, by a tiger while she was sleeping, police said on Monday.
Her body was later found by the locals in the nearby forest.
The incident took place in the forested village of Parrapur Baigatola under the Khapa range of the Kanha National Park at around 2.15 am on Sunday, police said.

Police quoting the villagers said that the victim, identified as Sugni Bai Dhurve, was grabbed by her head by the tiger which entered her door-less hunt early on Sunday morning and dragged to the nearby forest.
Later, the villagers ventured into the forest armed with lathis and torches and found her body in the jungle.
The victim was taken to the hospital in Baihar where doctors declared her dead, police said.
Police registered a case of accidental death and began a probe into it.
A team of forest officials reached the village and advised the villagers not to venture out of their houses after dusk to avoid tiger attack and not to leave the children and elderly people alone.
The forest officials have initiated measures to capture the tiger by putting cages in the area, a forest officer said.
