MP To Seek CBI Probe In Model, Actor Twisha Sharma Death, NCW Asks State Govt To Submit ATR Within 7 Days
“I will write a letter to the CBI to probe the case”: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav

BHOPAL: Amid cries for justice for their daughter Twisha Sharma (33), who died allegedly by suicide in her marital home here on May 12, by her parents, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday indicated that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will be asked to probe the case.
Mr. Yadav met Twisha’s family members at his secretariat chamber here in the afternoon and said that he will write a letter to the CBI to take over the probe into the incident.
He assured them of the ‘full cooperation’ by the state government in the case.
“I will write a letter to the CBI to probe the case”, he said.
Regarding the demand by Twisha’s family members for a second autopsy of her body, the chief minister said that it is up to the court to decide on the matter.
He however said that the state government will make the arrangements to shift the body to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, if they so desire.
The body has been preserved in the morgue of the AIIMS, Bhopal, for the last one week after the postmortem since the family members refused to accept the body alleging lapses in the police investigation.
Bhopal police commissioner Sanjay Kumar has earlier clarified that police will have no objection for a second postmortem if the court orders it.
He said that the probe has so far suggested that it is a case of suicide, not murder.
Twisha’s family members have been camping here for the last one week demanding fair investigation into her death and second postmortem.
In another development, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday asked the Madhya Pradesh government as well as the director general of police (DGP) of MP to submit an action taken report (ATR) on the incident within one week, while taking suo motu cognizance of the matter.
Twisha, who had begun her career in modeling and later acted in a Telugu movie ‘Mugguru Monagallu' and a short Hindi film, married Bhopal-based advocate Samarth Singh in December 2025.
Her mother-in-law is a retired district judge, Giribala Singh.
Her husband and mother-in-law have been booked following her death allegedly by suicide.
Her husband was legal advisor to the Madhya Pradesh government between 2023-2025.
While her mother-in-law secured anticipatory bail on the very day the FIR was registered in the case, her husband’s anticipatory bail application was rejected by a local court here on Monday.
The FIR alleges harassment to Twisha over dowry and her character assassination and pressure surrounding her pregnancy.
Her parents alleged that she was accused of carrying an illicit pregnancy and forced to undergo abortion by her husband and mother-in-law.
The retired district judge has however denied the charges claiming that Twisha was suffering from drug abuse leading to her alleged suicide.
Police meanwhile issued a lookout notice against Twisha’s husband who has been described by the police as ‘absconding’.
